As I step back into the role of Head of School, I am struck by the relevance of Athenian’s mission which seems to amplify with each passing year. Rare indeed is the school that remains so enduring in a world characterized by rapid change.
As the school’s founder Dyke Brown said over fifty years ago, "It is not enough to be concerned with the scholarly excellence of our students alone. The values and purposes with which their well-trained minds will be committed are of equal importance." These words still ring true today; we prepare students to do well and good throughout their lives.
As you explore our website, you’ll see for yourself that Athenian’s approach to education remains rooted in its founding commitment to experiential learning and the IDEALS of Round Square (Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, and Leadership). An overview of the school’s five-year strategic vision (plan) is available on this page of our website. I am inspired by what we have in store for the school’s future and think you will be too.
Come visit us in person to see why graduates say Athenian is "school as it should be."
